Mount your phone in a hands-free device and keep it plugged in.

From the top dropdown menu, select a Driver Favorite like we created in

Find Carpool Route

Select Number of Riders

In this example, you have 3 empty seats in your car, and you need at least 2 riders to access an HOV-3+ carpool lane

Therefore, tap  2 or 3 

Tap Find Riders

When you tap

 FIND RIDERS  you engage as a carpool driver

You are now actively seeking riders while driving to your destination

Drive into 1st Driver Zone

When you drive into a purple Driver Zone, the app instantly matches you with riders that are currently waiting at that station and going in your direction

Get in the correct lane to access the station

Await 1st Query

The match process takes 10-15 seconds

Keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel – when the query is complete, you'll hear the result

Be prepared to access the station

Tap Keep Driving

In this example, there are no matching riders at this station at this moment

Tap  KEEP DRIVING  to try again at the next station (if you don't respond, the app chooses this for you)

Drive Into 2nd Driver Zone

Continue driving into the next purple Driver Zone

Get in the correct lane to access the station

Await 2nd Query

Be prepared to access the station

Tap Wait Here

 WAIT HERE  to stop and wait for matching riders at this station

Tap Renew Musters

After a moment, the app creates a Muster (a driver waiting position) for each route between here and your selected Drop Off

Priority is to match to your selected Drop Off station (red shield), but the app will also propose trips to stations along the way (red diamonds)

Tap  RENEW MUSTERS  before the timer expires. You can close the app – we'll text you when your Musters are about to expire 

View Positions

After tapping

 RENEW MUSTERS   your position for each route is visible

Tap  Go Back  to return to the map

Wait for Riders

Stop your car and wait for riders at any safe and legal location within the purple Driving Zone. The yellow "P" is a suggested short term parking location

When you are matched with riders at this station, you'll get a text message. Jump ahead to Accept Proposal

But in this example, instead of matching here, tap

 Keep Driving  to continue to the next station

If you decide to stop seeking carpool riders, or you leave the purple Driver Zone for any reason, tap

 Keep Driving  to cancel your Musters

Accept Proposal

In this example, you matched with riders at this station. You now have a trip proposal to either ACCEPT or DECLINE before the timer expires (if you don't respond, the app chooses DECLINE for you)

In this example, note the match is not to your selected Drop Off (SF - FiDi) but instead to a station along the way (SF - Transbay)

Keeping the app open,

drive into the

 green Pick Up Zone 

View Carpool Partners

Once you enter the

 green Pick Up Zone  you can view the location of your riders

Tap any rider to call or text them if necessary (your phone number is not shared)

1st Rider Enters Pick Up Zone

Once a rider enters the

 green Pick Up Zone  their boarding of your car can be confirmed

Each rider's boarding of your car must be double-confirmed by both you and the rider
